Be sure to choose the right plant for the space you are looking for. You can adapt the place if you can. This is the number 1 reason that plants don’t survive or thrive indoors. Some plants need more light to survive, while others can live in low light conditions and still thrive.
Don’t overwater. Plants can recover more from underwatering than from overwatering. Because indoor plants are less photosynthesisable in low light, they grow slower than plants in full sunlight. When they are actively growing, plants use more soil water than when they aren’t. Indoor plants generally require less water. All pots should be free from water. Don’t allow water to pool in the saucer or pot.
Please read the care instructions. Each plant needs different care. If a plant label says keep moist – then keep moist. You might even be able to mist the leaves with water every now and then. If it says to dry between waterings allow it to dry. Then allow drying between waterings. A soil water meter can be purchased to help. The roots grow to the base of the container. It is possible that the soil may still be wetter lower down. If the plant needs filtered light then ensure it is placed in a spot where it gets filtered light – and no direct light.

Keep an eye on the seasons. The days are longer and warmer in spring and summer, and plants tend to grow more actively. They will need more water and may even be able to benefit from light fertilizer.
Plant growth slows in cooler months. This is because plants don’t require as much water and nutrients. Plants can often go 2-3 weeks between waterings.
Take a look at your plants. Get to know your plants. If something isn’t going according to plan, you should let them know. You can save them by intervening quickly.
